Yerevan - Byurakan - Aragats Mountain - Vanadzor - Kachachkut Village - Haghpat - Teghut - Dilijan - Lake Parz - Lake Gosh - Lake Sevan - Yerevan
Transfer from Zvartnots International Airport to hotel in the center of Yerevan, overnight in the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel we will have short briefing on the tour, board bus and will drive to the North to Geghard, where we will visit the magnificent monument of medieval Armenian architecture Geghard Monastery founded in IV century A.D. (at that time called Ayrivank or a “Cave Monastery”) and rebuilt in 1215, when as a legend says the name Geghard was given as the legendary spear - Geghard - (that pierced Christ) was brought there. After excursion in Geghard we will hike to Garni village via Garni canyon on the way visiting Havuts Tar monastery complex built in X century. The monastery is located to the east of Garni, on the left bank of the Azat River and was a remarkable midcentury religious and cultural center of Armenia. On the way we will have small picnic lunch. Enjoying magnificent, seemingly artificial slopes from the foot to the top of the Garni gorge named "Symphony of Stones" we will reach Garni Temple built in the second half of the 1st century B.C. and dedicated to a heathen god, probably to Mitra, the god of the sun. After Christianity the temple was used as a summer residence of Armenian Kings described as ‘‘A House of Coolness‘‘. Then we will have lunch in the nice tavern in Garni village. After Lunch we will be back to Yerevan on the bus, where we will have free time for short city tour visiting the Cascade, monument to famous architect A. Tamanyan, Opera House. Then we will drive to Byurakan, a village on the Southern slopes of Mount Aragats, where we will check in a very nice and newly built hotel and sports/entertainment center. After check-in we will have dinner in the hotel and will enjoy different entertainment attractions, like the Planetarium with star telescopes, the rifle range, the swimming pool, and the great view towards Ararat Valley and Ararat Mountain.
After breakfast at the hotel we will board a minibus and will drive up to Amberd fortress a midcentury fort-city built during the 10th century. Leaving the fortress we will continue our drive up to Mount Aragats (the highest mountain of Armenia, 4090 m), and will reach Lake Kari located close to the southern peak of the mount. Its altitude is 3207m, surface area 0,12 sq. km., and depth 9m. It was formed from ice deposits. The lake mostly is surrounded by snow and its water is quite cool. From Lake Kari we will hike to the southern Peak of Aragats mountain (about 3900 m). Then we will walk down to the Crater on the way having picnic lunch. From the crater we will walk down to Aragats village, from where we will take our bus to Vanadzor city, where we will have dinner and stay for overnight.
After Breakfast at the hotel we will take our bus to Hagvi village, from where we will hike through a mountain trail to Kachachkut village on the way having picnic lunch and enjoying the beautiful view of the mountainous forest landscape and gorges of Lori region. From Kachachkut village we will take local off-road vehicles and we will go to the Highway, where taking our bus we will drive to Haghpat village. Here we will accommodate in the local hotel, will have dinner and stay for overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel we will take minibus towards Tsakhkashat village, from where we will take forest trail, enjoying beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and nature and having picnic lunch. Then via this forest trail we will walk to Teghut village from where we will be back to Haghpat village by bus. Reaching the village we will visit Haghpat Monastery built in X century and standing against the background of steep forest-grown slopes of Bazum ridge. Leaving Haghpat Monastery we will be back to our hotel, where we will have dinner and stay for overnight.
After breakfast we will board the bus and take our way to Ahnidzor village, from where we will hike to Haghartsin Monastery built in XIII century, and located in the Dilijan National Park that is surrounded by the Lesser Caucasus mountains and forests. The Monastery is situated in dense oak forest, in the gorge of small but turbulent mountain river. Then we will take our bus to Dilijan town, where we will have dinner and stay for overnight.
After breakfast we will board the bus and take our way to Lake Parz, surrounded by the Lesser Caucasus mountains and forests. From the Lake we will hike to the Gosh village on the way having picnic lunch. In the village we will visit Goshavank Monastery built in XII century. Leaving the monastery we will walk to the Lake Gosh situated in the hearth of the dense forest at the altitude of 1400 meters above the sea level. We will have a rest at the shore of the Lake and will perfectly explore an admirable breathtaking harmony of the lake and surrounding rich fauna and flora. From the Lake Gosh we will continue our hiking to the Khachardzan village, from where we will take our bus to Dilijan town, where we will have dinner and stay for overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel we will we will take our way by bus to Lake Sevan, which is the largest lake in Caucasus as well as one of the largest, and highest freshwater lakes of the world located above 1897 m of altitude. In summer, the middle temperature of lake surface is 18-23 degrees above zero, which is very convenient for swimming. After reaching the shore of Lake Sevan we will walk to the top of Sevan peninsula to visit Sevanavank monastery built in 305 A.C. by the daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni - Mariam and during the 9th century became the royal citadel of the Armenian Kings. Coming down from the top we will have lunch with famous fish barbeque and will enjoy a beautiful view of the Lake. In the evening we will be back to Yerevan, where we will have free time, farewell dinner and transfer to the Airport for return flight.
