Monastery of Haghpat: History

Haghpat Monastery known also as Haghpatavank is a magic medieval monastery situated in Haghpat. The Queen Khosrovanuysh who was the wife of the king Ashot III Bagratid founded the monastery in 976.

Haghpat Monastery is designed by all the rules of the tenth-century Armenian architecture. The unique style of the monastery came from mixed elements of Byzantine ecclesiastical architecture and the Caucasian region traditional architecture.

Sanahin Monastery

Sanahin Monastery is one of the amazing sights of Armenia. This holy monastery was built in the 10th century in the Lori Province. The word Sanahin is translated as "this one is older than that one", meaning that it is older than Haghpat Monastery next to it.

Sanahin bridge

Sanahin Bridge is one of the attractive places of Armenia. It is situated above the Debed river, in Lori region. Sanahin Bridge was built in the12th century by the auspices of Vaneni, sister of Zakare and Ivane Zakaryan, for her husband king Abas Kyurikyan.
