In recent decades, the grenade is considered to be a symbol of the Armenian diaspora scattered throughout the world. Apricot - is another symbol of Armenia. This fruit was selected by Armenian farmers long before our era, then the merchants brought it to Rome, where it became widespread and continued its journey through the countries of Europe.
The apricot tree serves as a source of wood for the most beloved and famous Armenian musical instrument called duduk. If you did not know, then the orange colour on the national flag of Armenia symbolizes apricot.
Duduk is a wooden musical instrument. It is a tube with 9 holes. Variants of this instrument are common among the peoples of the Caucasus, the Middle East and the Balkan Peninsula.
In 2005, the music of the Armenian duduk was recognized as a masterpiece of UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage.
In Armenia, duduk is also known as “tsiranapokh”, which literally can be translated as “apricot tube” or “soul of an apricot tree”.
