Francophonie, also known as Francophonia in English, is the quality of speaking French. But it has also another meaning which is the International organization of la Francophonie which organizes many events all over the world.
The International Organisation of La Francophonie is the biggest linguistic zone in the whole world. The members of this organization share not only the same language but also the values which exist in the French language.
There are 58 Member States and Governments, they are:
Albania, Principality of Andorra, Armenia, Kingdom of Belgium, French Community of Belgium, Benin, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Canada-New-Brunswick, Canada-Quebec, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, , Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Dominica, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, France, Gabon, Ghana, Greece, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Laos, Lebanon, Luxembourg, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Moldova, Monaco, Niger, New-Caledonia, Qatar, Romania, Rwanda, Saint Lucia, Säo Tomé and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo, Tunisia, Vanuatu, Vietnam.
The purpose of this organization is not only to raise awareness of the French language, but also to promote democracy, which includes human rights, cultural dialogue, education and so on.
This year Armenia is going to host 2018 La Francophonie Summit. It is going to take place on October 11 and 12 in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Edward Nalbandyan, submitted the needed information to the conference participants.
Last Year at the 34th OIF Ministerial Conference in Paris it was decided that in 2018 Armenia is going to host International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) Summit. Now the preparation of this great event is being done at a high level.
Come to Armenia in October and be a part of francophonic Yerevan.
