Armenia is a land full of fantastic traditions and customs, amazing atmosphere, the ancient history and culture together with the most interesting festivals.
My Handmade Armenia is one of the main initiatives of the program named My Armenia. The aim of this program is supporting the development and revitalization of craft traditions such as wood carving, textile, embroidery, carpet weaving, and pottery in Armenia’s rural communities.
An interesting festival named My Handmade Armenia is going to take place in Armenia on Sunday, October 14. On that day My Handmade Armenia festival will visit the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden to show the handmade goods made by the artists from Shirak and Tavush provinces of Armenia.
The festival includes artisan demonstrations, interactive craft activities for visitors, and sales of new products developed through My Handmade Armenia’s activities.
It is interesting to know that the artworks are created by artisans during the Designer|Artisan Mentorship program. Nearly sixty artisans were attending training in product development, marketing, pricing and business management. Then the artisans worked with designers from Teryan Cultural Center on a series of projects.
The Festival is organized by the My Armenia Program, which is funded by USAID and implemented by the Smithsonian Institution. Photo Credit: Narek Harutyunyan, My Armenia.
