The monastery complex of Hovhannavank is situated in the village of the same names of the Aragatzotn district. The main church of the monastery was built in 13-th century by Vache Vachutyan's order (1216-21). By the order of Qurd Vachutyan on the western part of the church was built a Gavit, which construction finished in 1250. The most ancient structure in Hovhannavank is a basilica typical of the fifth century.
